Change alerts

Know what changed, minutes after it goes live.

When someone publishes a change, you get a short Slack message. It says what changed in plain words.

The problem

Changes go live without a word

Many people can publish in a container. A teammate, a client or an old freelancer.

Google Tag Manager does not tell you when they do. So you find out late, if at all.

And its version list is hard to read. It is hard to see what is new.

How it works

How change alerts work

  1. Step 1: We look every 5 minutes

We check the live version of each container you watch. Quiet for a week? Then we check every 15 minutes.

  2. Step 2: We save each new version

When the live version changes, we save a copy. Then we compare it to the one before.

  3. Step 3: You get one short message

It lists the top 5 changes. You see which tags, triggers and variables were added, changed or removed.

  4. Step 4: One link shows the rest

Click View diff to see every field that changed, side by side.

  5. Step 5: Repeats stay in one thread

Another publish in the same hour goes in the same thread. So your channel stays calm.

FAQ

Questions you may have

Does the alert say who published?

No. Google Tag Manager does not tell apps who published a version. So we say what changed and when we saw it. If you roll back in our app, we do name you.

Do I need Slack?

No. Every alert also shows in the app, on the Alerts page. Slack just gets it to you faster.

Can each client have its own channel?

Yes. Group your containers into clients. Then pick a channel for each client. The rest go to your main channel.

Can I see changes from before I joined?

No. We save versions from the day you connect a container. The version live on that day is your starting point.
